What We Believe

Simply put, we are people in Christ reaching people for Christ. Our purpose is to carry out the command of our Lord, which is recorded in Matthew 28:19-20, and to preach, teach, and proclaim His gospe in this community and to the ends of the earth.

We believe that God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God’s saving grace to end our alienation from God. Salvation comes only through God’s grace-not human effort-and must be received personally by repentance and faith.

We believe that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute. This accomplished salvation for all who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only mediator between people and God. He will return to earth to consummate history.

We believe the Holy Spirit draws men and women to Christ and equips believers for personal growth and service to the church. The church’s role is to glorify God and serve those in need. At the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and judgment. Only believers will enjoy eternal fellowship with God.

GOD: There is only one living and true God. The eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

THE SCRIPTURES: The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.

MAN: Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image, and is the crowning work of His creation. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. All mankind is guilty of sin.

SIN: Man sins whenever he decides that he is able to determine, by the power of his own logic and reasoning, what is best, instead of trusting God and His perfect knowledge. Because of sin we deserve to spend eternity apart from God.

GOD'S GIFT TO MAN: Man cannot earn his own way to heaven. God has given to everyone the gift of eternity in heaven with Him, if we will only admit to our sin, accept the gift, and begin trusting Him.

BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER: Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of Christ and anticipate His second coming.

THE RETURN OF THE LORD: God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men. Those who have lived without accepting God's gift will spend eternity in Hell, apart from God. Everyone who has accepted this gift will receive their reward and will live forever in Heaven with our Lord.
